Avalanche (AVAX) has introduced a six-week global online competition called "Build Games," offering a substantial prize pool of $1 million to developers creating new products and experiments on its blockchain network. This initiative aims to encourage crypto-native builders to focus on launching real, on-chain projects rather than transient prototypes.
The "Build Games" competition is intentionally designed without predefined tracks or categories, fostering creativity across various areas including infrastructure, consumer products, primitives, and tooling. Organizers emphasized that the intent behind the projects is paramount, seeking applications that address genuine problems, explore novel on-chain behaviors, or contribute to the advancement of the Avalanche ecosystem.
“What matters more than the category is the intent. We are looking for projects that solve real problems, explore new onchain behaviors, or push the Avalanche ecosystem forward.”
Avalanche stated that the program provides a structured framework, mentorship, and deadlines to assist builders in maintaining focus and successfully launching their projects. This competition builds upon years of dedicated investment in developer tooling, incubators, and grant programs.
Prize Pool and Mentorship Support
The $1 million prize pool includes a grand prize of $100,000, with $75,000 awarded to the runner-up and $50,000 for the third-place finisher. Additional category prizes and ongoing ecosystem support will be provided to standout teams.
The "Build Games" competition is structured into distinct stages, beginning with initial video pitches and progressing through live demos to final presentations. Teams will be evaluated based on criteria such as execution, impact, usability, innovation, and long-term potential.
Throughout the program, workshops, office hours, and mentorship sessions will be available to help teams refine their product design and technical execution.
Applications are currently being accepted on build.avax.network, with submissions processed on a rolling basis until capacity is reached. Avalanche positions this competition as a catalyst for renewed building efforts and a platform for discovering the next generation of on-chain innovators.
