Early Bitcoin Holder Resurfaces After 13 Years of Dormancy
A notable development has occurred in the cryptocurrency markets. A Bitcoin wallet that had been inactive for over 13 years moved assets worth approximately $85 million in a single transaction. According to on-chain data, the wallet broke its long silence by transferring 909.38 BTC to a new address.
According to data shared by Arkham Intelligence, the wallet named “1A2hq…pZGZm” transferred its entire Bitcoin balance to a new address starting with “bc1qk…sxaeh” at approximately 4:17 PM.
Genesis of the Holdings and Current Market Context
This wallet accumulated Bitcoins between December 2012 and April 2013, when the BTC price fluctuated between $13 and approximately $250. Thus, the current value of assets held since that early period has reached millions of dollars. However, the identity of the wallet owner or the owner of the new address to which the funds were sent is still unknown.
This activity is seen as one of the latest examples of a trend, dubbed the “Satoshi era,” where wallets from the early years occasionally become active again.
Historical Precedents and Market Psychology
During last year’s rally when Bitcoin reached record highs, some long-dormant wallets similarly reappeared and made large transfers. In July 2025, another large whale made a profit of approximately $9 billion by selling over 80,000 BTC through Galaxy Digital.
On the other hand, the Bitcoin price appears to have stabilized after US-EU trade tensions caused sharp fluctuations in the market. As of 9:40 PM on Monday, BTC was trading at around $92,531. Experts note that such large transfers do not always mean selling, but they can create short-term pressure on market psychology.
