Nigerian food delivery platform Chowdeck has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing two million users. This development occurs one year after the startup initially reached one million users on its platform.
The company’s CEO and Co-founder, Femi Aluko, announced the achievement via an X post on Monday, highlighting that Chowdeck has added another million users in the past 13 months. This growth underscores the increasing integration of digital food delivery into the daily lives of Nigerians.
“Yesterday, @chowdeck crossed 2 million registered users! It has been a year since I made the tweet mentioning that we crossed a million users. We have come a long way since then,” he stated.
This milestone follows the startup's achievement of crossing one million orders in October 2025, despite facing operational challenges. In the weeks leading up to that period, Chowdeck's daily order volume saw an increase from approximately 30,000 to over 40,000, and this upward trend has continued.
Chowdeck has navigated a competitive Nigerian market, encountering operational bottlenecks related to costs, infrastructure, and logistics. The platform's ability to scale demonstrates the importance of consistency and customer trust for local companies.

Femi Aluko further noted that the team has been dedicated to enhancing its support systems and operational efficiency while expanding its services across various cities.
“We have learnt even more over the last year as we more than doubled every part of our network. Again, I am really grateful to our team, customers, riders and partners for coming on this journey with us,” he added.
Launched in 2021, Chowdeck began as a modest food delivery platform connecting Nigerian customers, restaurants, and riders. It has since evolved into a comprehensive logistics network, facilitating quicker deliveries and improving the overall customer experience, propelling the platform towards achieving one million monthly orders.
The company has capitalized on the rise of smartphone adoption and the growing demand for convenience among working-class Nigerians. With individuals working extended hours and seeking convenient meal solutions, the demand for food delivery services has significantly increased.
Chowdeck's 'Big Black Friday' Event Fuels User Growth
Chowdeck's success extends beyond user numbers and monthly orders; the company's 'Big Black Friday' event generated substantial activity in both Nigerian and Ghanaian markets.
During this promotional period, Chowdeck's vendors processed a total of N1.4 billion. The company reported that restaurant partners, including Chicken Republic and numerous local vendors, handled thousands of orders over the weekend. This event also marked record single-day order volumes for many of its partners.
'Big Black Friday' Performance Metrics:
- •N1.4 billion: Total transaction volume processed across vendors.
- •183K+: Total orders delivered.
- •52K+: Orders delivered on Friday alone, setting a new single-day record.
- •Peak of 115 orders per minute.
- •Sustained rate of 5K+ orders per hour for five consecutive hours.
- •727K+ Kilometres covered by riders.
- •N205K earned by a single rider.

Chowdeck's operational trajectory demonstrates the potential for local startups to build and scale services that address the daily needs of Nigerians within the evolving digital economy. This success also positions them for potential global expansion.
