Ethereum's Future Growth Model
New statements regarding ETH have come from Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin.
Speaking from his X account, Buterin made new suggestions concerning ETH, stating that next year's Ethereum growth model will be "more selective scaling."
Vitalik Buterin indicated that he anticipates Ethereum will transition from "scaling everything" to "targeted optimization" in the coming year.
Buterin noted that overall growth in Ethereum will persist, but not all areas will experience scaling at the same rate.
Proposed Measures for Network Efficiency
At this juncture, Buterin put forth potential measures such as increasing the block gas limit fivefold. Simultaneously, he suggested increasing the gas cost by the same amount for less efficient or inefficient transactions.
This proposal is designed to directly enhance network scalability and foster a more efficient utilization of network resources.
Buterin elaborated, "We expect growth to continue next year, but we expect more targeted/less monotonous growth. While increasing the gas limit by 5x, it will also increase gas costs by 5x for transactions that are expensive to process on-chain."
Buterin specified that this proposal encompasses the creation of new storage slots with SSTORE, certain other SSTORE operations, precompilations (excluding elliptic curve ones), CALLs to large contracts, complex arithmetic instructions, and calldata.
