Solana's Mobile Ecosystem Token Gets Official Launch Date
Solana Mobile, the mobile ecosystem arm of Solana Labs, has officially announced that its native token, SKR, will launch in January 2026. This marks the official confirmation of Solana's long-planned token launch for its mobile hardware and application ecosystem.
Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana Labs, shared Solana Mobile's announcement on his X account, commenting, "It only takes 10 years to build an ecosystem."
SKR Token: Utility and Distribution
The new SKR token is designed as a native asset to power the control, economics, incentives, and ownership components of the Solana Mobile ecosystem. Developers have previously indicated that SKR will be distributed directly to users and app developers within the ecosystem.
According to the tokenization structure for SKR, there will be a total supply of 10 billion tokens. At launch, 30% of these tokens are designated for airdrops and unlocks. Solana Mobile's X account clarified that the airdrop is intended for "Seeker users, active dApp users, and similar groups."
Solana Seeker Smartphone Performance
In August, Solana Mobile reported receiving "150,000 pre-orders" for its next-generation smartphone, the Solana Seeker. The company also noted that "tens of thousands" of these devices have already been shipped to over 50 countries.
The Solana Seeker smartphone features include a hardware security solution named Seed Vault, an integrated Solana dApp Store, and an onchain Genesis token. This Genesis token provides early access to new applications and offers SKR rewards.
