Renowned hedge fund manager Michael Burry has endorsed donating Bitcoin (BTC) to a charity organization, Little Wishes, as a strong use of the digital asset. The nonprofit organization caters to the needs of hospitalized children who are chronically ill.
In a post on his verified X handle, Burry states, “Bitcoin for Little Wishes is a good use of BTC.”
Michael Burry Endorses Bitcoin Donations
Burry, who became famous for predicting the 2008 housing crash, showed his support for Little Wishes in a quoted reply. Notably, the Little Wishes organization had posted a link to where people could make donations to support their charity work in caring for hospitalized children.
Burry’s endorsement suggests that the hedge fund manager appreciates the role Bitcoin can play in real-world humanitarian purposes. That is, beyond speculative trading and use as payment currency, the flagship crypto asset can be used to support worthy causes such as donations to the needy.
This positive outlook he currently holds is a notable shift from his bearish views on Bitcoin. In December 2025, Burry had sparked debate in the crypto space when he referred to Bitcoin as the “tulip bulb of our time.”
He had implied that Bitcoin was not worth anything for it to exchange hands at $100,000 and held a general bearish view about the asset.
Bitcoin and Humanitarian Use Case
Many in the crypto sector had considered his remarks as a bearish call from another traditional finance skeptic unwilling to explore Bitcoin. However, Burry’s public endorsement for a course calling for Bitcoin donations appear to suggest that he might be softening his stance on the leading digital cryptocurrency.
It is worth mentioning that Burry is a respected voice in financial circles and his early decisions on topics usually carried weight. The recent call to users to support Little Wishes has gained traction with some already donating to the charity organization.
On the other hand, other online users have called out Burry’s seeming inconsistencies on Bitcoin. A user noted that it is either Michael Burry does not actually believe that Bitcoin is “worthless” or he is just taking a shot at hospitalized children.
