Strategic Partnership for Next-Generation Telecom
Nvidia is acquiring a $1 billion equity stake in Nokia through the purchase of over 166 million newly issued shares. Nokia will use the capital to accelerate AI development and fund general corporate initiatives, with a focus on next-generation telecom systems.
As part of the deal, the companies formed a strategic partnership to develop AI-native 6G infrastructure using Nvidia’s chips and computing platforms. Nokia will adapt its 5G and upcoming 6G software to run on Nvidia’s CUDA architecture, enhancing future radio access networks.
The collaboration will also support the rollout of the NVIDIA ARC-Pro platform, a 6G-ready telecom solution for AI-based networks. Nokia plans to expand its AI-RAN product portfolio around this platform to support operator deployments worldwide.
Industry Support for 6G Deployment
T-Mobile has committed to field testing the new AI-RAN technologies starting in 2026, becoming the first carrier to join the effort. Dell Technologies will provide PowerEdge servers to support infrastructure needs across the AI-RAN platform.
Nokia stated that it may integrate its optical and data centre switching technologies into Nvidia’s broader AI infrastructure plans. The two companies aim to optimise next-gen telecom solutions for use in AI data centres and intelligent networks.
Nvidia’s strategic investment comes ahead of CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote at the company’s developer conference in Washington, D.C. Huang is expected to discuss the Nokia partnership along with Nvidia’s growing AI infrastructure roadmap.
Nvidia continues expanding its AI ecosystem through recent investments in OpenAI, Intel, and other partners. Following the announcement, Nokia shares rose 20%, reflecting strong investor confidence in the deal’s potential impact on telecom and AI innovation.
