Pharos Network, a programmable open financial Layer-1, has launched the AtlanticOcean Testnet. This launch represents a significant milestone in achieving enhanced scale, memory efficiency, and speed for its blockchain infrastructure. It also signifies the expansion of its ecosystem from regional pilot programs to a globally interconnected network.
Much like the historical Atlantic Ocean served as a conduit for global trade and exploration, the Pharos AtlanticOcean Testnet is designed to act as a bridge for on-chain global liquidity. It provides institutions, developers, and partners with the capability to test the flow of real-world assets across international borders. This initiative lays crucial groundwork for a worldwide ecosystem expansion in anticipation of the mainnet launch.
Progress and Achievements of the First Testnet
Since its introduction in May, Pharos's initial Testnet has demonstrated robust performance, recording nearly 3 billion transactions across 23 million blocks with an impressive 0.5-second block time. The network has successfully deployed a global validator network, achieved full Ethereum Dencun SPEC compatibility with reliable block replay capabilities, and implemented key optimizations. These optimizations include parallel execution, enhanced caching mechanisms, and the release of low-memory node options. The network's readiness for scaled, real-world testing has been further validated through strategic partnerships with entities like Morpho Labs, Bitverse, and Euclid, as well as integrations with OKX Wallet, Bitget Wallet, Hemera Explorer, and Goldsky.
Key Upgrades Introduced with AtlanticOcean
Building upon the successes of the initial Testnet, the AtlanticOcean launch introduces a suite of major upgrades. These include the official Proof-of-Stake (PoS) tokenomics model, featuring a total supply of 1 billion tokens aligned with the mainnet's design. The testnet also incorporates user-friendly features for staking and validator voting. A significant architectural enhancement is the modular design, which decouples the consensus, execution, node, and storage layers. Further advancements include pipeline-based consensus enhancements, hybrid parallel execution utilizing both DAG-based and Block-STM V1 models, cache-friendly storage solutions powered by PharosDB, and an expanded developer toolset designed to facilitate more composable and complex testing scenarios.
“Based on what we have built now, we validated the foundation of Pharos, excellent performance, fair access, and scalable execution,” said Wish Wu, Co-founder & CEO of Pharos Network. “AtlanticOcean builds on that success. From here, Pharos goes global. We push the limits of scale, memory, and speed before real assets flow on-chain. We focus on the digital rails for liquidity to move freely between institutions, protocols, and people worldwide.”
Pharos's Phased Rollout and Mainnet Preparations
Pharos plans to implement Testnet activations in multiple stages. To ensure continuity and a seamless transition, the first Testnet will continue to operate alongside AtlanticOcean for several months. This allows ecosystem partners ample time to migrate gradually. During this transitional period, top-performing community validators will be extended invitations to join the AtlanticOcean network and participate in future mainnet validator sets. Subsequent stages of the rollout will focus on further scaling the network and advancing preparations for the mainnet launch. The mainnet launch is currently projected for Q1 2026, marking a pivotal moment in Pharos's mission to enable global, on-chain real-world asset finance.
