Spider Tanks, one of Web3’s earliest competitive multiplayer games, has officially returned. Immutable and Dutch developer GAMEDIA have relaunched the title as Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos, now available on the Epic Games Store, Apple App Store, and Google Play.
This relaunch confirms months of speculation surrounding the franchise’s revival. GAMEDIA has dedicated the past year to rebuilding the game from the ground up on Immutable’s next-generation infrastructure, ushering in a new era for the project after regaining ownership of the intellectual property in 2024.
Robbie Ferguson, Co-Founder and President at Immutable, stated that the partnership was designed to allow GAMEDIA to "realize their full creative vision without compromise." GAMEDIA CEO Dittmar Tukker added that reviving the game was about demonstrating that Web3 games "should be about fun first."

A Faster, Cleaner, Free-to-Play Evolution
Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos retains the core 3v3 arena gameplay that contributed to the original's cult following, but nearly every system has been redeveloped.
The reboot emphasizes several key areas:
- •More versatile moment-to-moment gameplay
- •Deeper tank customization options
- •A refined progression system
- •Smoother controls, sharper visuals, and improved performance
Players construct their tanks by combining different Bodies, Weapons, and up to two Special Items. Bodies determine core statistics such as speed and health, while weapons offer a variety from railguns to flamethrowers. Tactical abilities, including shields, turrets, cloaking, decoys, and drones, are available to enhance team strategies.
The game also launches with multiple PvP modes, such as Team Deathmatch, Hold the Flag, Chicken Chaser, and the payload-style Poultry Pusher. Occasionally, battles are disrupted by Destroyers, formidable military tanks that necessitate temporary alliances between rival teams.
Cores of Chaos has eliminated onboarding friction entirely. There are no token requirements, no asset purchases, and no complicated sign-up processes. All features can be unlocked through gameplay, and matchmaking is fully cross-platform across PC, Mac, and mobile devices via iOS and Android.
A Revival Years in the Making
Spider Tanks was initially released in 2021 through a collaboration between GAMEDIA and Gala Games, quickly becoming one of the early examples of an esports-focused Web3 title. The partnership eventually dissolved, leading to a legal dispute in 2024 where Gala Games attempted to assert ownership of the intellectual property. A California court ultimately dismissed this claim, restoring GAMEDIA to full control.
In September 2025, Immutable and GAMEDIA announced a new partnership, strongly suggesting the return of Spider Tanks. The current relaunch validates months of speculation and marks GAMEDIA’s first standalone Web3 title under their sole ownership.
The game is now part of Immutable’s expanding publishing portfolio, which includes Ubisoft’s Might & Magic reboot and Habbo X, underscoring a continued commitment to multiplayer Web3 experiences.
