Standard Chartered, a UK-based bank, continues to actively participate in the cryptocurrency market, regularly updating its forecasts for Bitcoin's short, medium, and long-term price movements. The institution has recently revised its targets, releasing new projections that have generated significant interest among cryptocurrency enthusiasts and investors.
New Bitcoin Price Targets Revealed
In response to evolving market conditions, Standard Chartered has adjusted its short-term outlook for Bitcoin. Previously, the bank had projected Bitcoin to reach $200,000 by the end of 2025. However, this forecast has now been revised to $100,000, indicating a more conservative approach to its predictions.
Geoffrey Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Asset Research at Standard Chartered, acknowledged that earlier assumptions did not accurately reflect market developments. Despite these adjustments, the bank maintains its long-term price target of $500,000 for Bitcoin.
Influence of Cryptocurrency Trends on Future Predictions
Standard Chartered indicates that the cryptocurrency landscape has undergone substantial changes, impacting future predictions. The bank had initially anticipated Bitcoin to reach $200,000 this year, a forecast influenced by factors such as ETF absorption, the demand for corporate crypto treasuries, and various political developments. However, these anticipated market dynamics did not unfold as expected, prompting a reassessment of their strategy.
“With the start of ETF purchases, the BTC halving cycle is no longer a relevant price factor. Long-term ETF buyers are a much more significant price factor.”
Kendrick posits that the recent dip in Bitcoin's price is a temporary market fluctuation rather than a sustained downturn, emphasizing the paramount importance of ETF flows in the current market environment.
Revised Price Projections
The updated Bitcoin price targets are as follows:
- •End of 2025: Revised to $100,000.
- •2026: Projected at $150,000.
- •2027: Projected at $225,000.
- •2028: Projected at $300,000.
- •2029: Projected at $400,000.
- •2030: Long-term target of $500,000 remains unchanged.
These revisions suggest a delay in achieving previously anticipated milestones, reflecting a more cautious and tempered outlook on Bitcoin's price trajectory.
