Strategy Inc., led by Chairman Michael Saylor, has further increased its holdings of Bitcoin. According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on October 27, the company confirmed the purchase of an additional 390 BTC. This acquisition occurred between October 20 and October 26, with a total expenditure of $43.4 million.
Following this latest purchase, Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings now stand at 640,808 BTC. The average purchase price for these newly acquired coins was $111,117 per BTC. The company's comprehensive Bitcoin portfolio was acquired at an average price of $74,032 per BTC, for a total investment of $47.44 billion.
Bitcoin Acquisition Funded by Preferred Stock Offerings
The recent Bitcoin acquisition was financed using proceeds generated from Strategy's preferred share programs, specifically the STRF, STRK, and STRD classes. This means the purchase was not funded by the sale of MSTR common shares.
The company's filing indicates that it raised $17.6 million from the sale of 175,634 STRF shares, $19.1 million from 191,404 STRK shares, and $8.7 million from 87,462 STRD shares. In total, these preferred share sales generated $44.7 million to fund the Bitcoin purchase.
Strategy stated, "The bitcoin purchases were made using proceeds from the STRF ATM, STRK ATM and STRD ATM." No MSTR shares were sold during this acquisition period.
Total Holdings Surpass 640,000 BTC
This acquisition marks the third consecutive week that Strategy has added to its Bitcoin reserves. The previous week, the company purchased 168 BTC for $18.8 million, bringing its total holdings to 640,418 BTC. The most recent purchase of 390 BTC has now increased that total to 640,808 BTC.
Michael Saylor alluded to the recent purchase on X (formerly Twitter) with a post stating, "It’s Orange Dot Day," accompanied by a link to the company's Bitcoin dashboard, which displays current holdings, value, and average cost.
With 640,808 BTC in its possession, Strategy now controls more than 3% of Bitcoin's maximum supply of 21 million coins.
2025 Yield Reaches 26% Amidst Price Increases
Year-to-date in 2025, Strategy has reported a 26% yield on its Bitcoin investments. The recent surge in Bitcoin's price has elevated the market value of the company's holdings to approximately $71.1 billion. Based on current market prices, Strategy holds an unrealized gain of around $23.7 billion.
