Aptos has partnered with World Liberty Financial to deploy the USD1 stablecoin on its network, with the launch scheduled for Oct. 6. The collaboration aims to challenge the dominance of ETH and TRX in the Ethereum stablecoin market.
CEO Avery Ching revealed at TOKEN2049 in Singapore that WLFI selected Aptos for its ultra‑low transaction costs and speed. The network processes transactions in under half a second, at less than one‑hundredth of a cent per transaction, making it attractive for stablecoin operations.
The launch will feature immediate Ethereum ecosystem support across multiple platforms. Leading DeFi protocols, including Echelon, Hyperion, Thala, and Tapp, will provide liquidity pools and incentives from day one.
Major wallets and exchanges have committed to supporting the rollout. Petra, Backpack, OKX, OneKey, Bitget Wallet, Nightly, and Gate Wallet will all integrate USD1 at launch, providing broad accessibility for users.
Aptos currently hosts $1.3 billion in USDT, significantly trailing Tron’s $78.6 billion and Ethereum’s $94.8 billion. The network holds just 0.35 % of the overall stablecoin market share but processes over $60 billion in monthly volume across $USDT, $USDC, $USDE, and PYUSD.
$USD1 currently maintains a market capitalization of $2.68 billion, with most circulation on BNB Chain, according to DefiLlama data. Ethereum commands 59 % of total stablecoin supply, rising to 69 % when layer‑2 and EVM‑compatible networks are included.
Beyond the stablecoin partnership, Aptos announced Decibel, a high‑performance decentralized exchange optimized for stablecoins, perpetual contracts, and spot trading. The Ethereum testnet launches in October with mainnet expected before year‑end.
The network is also developing Shelby, a decentralized storage system in partnership with Jump Crypto, designed for real‑time social media applications and training data. The system targets a 2026 launch date.
Ching previously led Meta’s Diem crypto project before joining Aptos, which has secured backing from FTX Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Apollo, Franklin Templeton and Circle Ventures. The combination of stablecoin adoption, DeFi expansion, and new infrastructure positions the network to compete in the Ethereum tokenization space.
