Wormhole Labs has unveiled Sunrise, a new system built to streamline how onchain assets enter the Solana ecosystem.
Designed as a unified liquidity and data gateway, Sunrise aims to provide Solana with a reliable, standardized pathway for importing tokens from external blockchains, without the liquidity fragmentation that often plagues cross-chain infrastructure. The launch positions Sunrise as a foundational part of Solana’s long-term vision of building globally accessible, internet-native capital markets.
A Unified Entry Point for External Assets
At its core, Sunrise is meant to serve as the first stop for assets migrating to Solana. Instead of relying on traditional bridges or siloed liquidity pools, Sunrise uses Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers (NTT) framework to move assets between chains while preserving their utility and consistency. This approach ensures that when a token arrives on Solana, it behaves like a native asset, fungible, functional, and ready for immediate use.
Wormhole Labs says this dramatically reduces friction for developers and users, especially when new tokens are introduced to Solana’s high-speed environment.
MON Becomes the First Supported Asset
The platform’s first supported token will be MON, the native asset of the Monad Layer-1 blockchain. MON trading on Solana is expected to go live on November 24, 2025, marking Sunrise’s debut as a live cross-chain asset gateway.
Once MON arrives through Sunrise, it will be instantly tradable on major Solana-based platforms such as Jupiter and Orb, giving it day-one liquidity across the ecosystem.
Immediate Liquidity Across Solana’s Marketplaces
One of Sunrise’s defining features is its ability to deliver immediate liquidity across decentralized exchanges and applications. Instead of requiring liquidity providers to create new pools, Sunrise allows assets to plug directly into Solana’s existing infrastructure.
This solves a long-standing problem in the multi-chain world: assets arriving on new chains often face fragmented markets with inconsistent pricing and limited depth. Sunrise unifies this process so that tokens launch with built-in accessibility and market support.
Expansion Into Commodities, Equities, and RWAs
Wormhole Labs CEO Saeed Badreg says Sunrise is only the beginning. The team intends to broaden the platform’s catalog of supported assets, including:
- •Tokenized commodities
- •Synthetic or tokenized equities
- •Institutional-grade real-world assets
This expansion would position Sunrise as a major conduit for bringing traditional financial instruments into Solana’s onchain economy.
A Step Toward Solana’s “Internet Capital Markets” Vision
The Solana Foundation has expressed strong support for Sunrise, describing it as an essential tool for building an open, borderless financial environment. By standardizing how assets arrive on the network, and by ensuring they launch with immediate liquidity, Sunrise strengthens Solana’s ambition to become the settlement layer for next-generation, internet-native capital markets.
Wormhole Labs’ new gateway marks an important step in that direction, offering a scalable method for connecting external value to the Solana ecosystem in a seamless, user-ready format.
